BOOM, that just happened!

Just a few things for this fabulous Friday that happened as of late.
I don't know about you guys but back in the day Mario Kart was KING!
Check out this sweet stop motion Mario Kart in real life.

Can't stop, won't stop!

Girl is just Gone with the wind, FABULOUS!
So goes and releases a stealth album on iTunes on the DL.
Queen B said she did for a reason, saying "I didn't want to release my music the way I've done it. I am bored with that."
Check and mate!

Face-gate? Call it what you will, I call it #selfie. Everyone has one why not the POTUS?
In this moment I'll tell you why not, don't do it at the Nelson Mandela memorial. #fail

Affluenza!? Really?! I mean really it makes me sick like influenza. His defense attorney pretty much blamed his parents for giving him a posh life and he didn't know better. So he got 10 years probation and will be in a super swank rehab facility.
Maybe I am being harsh, but how 'bout we break that cycle and make him know a bit of hardship and send him to juvey?
Move over Snapchat? Here comes Instagram Direct. Maybe, maybe not but hey people will try it and use it.

Well that about sums that up.

Panning for Gold

Alrighty, I need some help. I am on a hunt for the perfect gold nail polish (in my dreams, I know!) and I hope it's out there.
Here is what I am looking for, I want really GOLD! I'm not talking just a metallic color I want a bit of yellow to it and visible glitter and I don't want a top coat, I want it to be a stand alone polish, am I asking too much?
Here is what my current routine and it gets me by (First World Problem, I know) but not even close to what I want in gold polish. First coat is Revlon in Gold Coin it gives me the cover I am looking for and top is off with Wet n Wild Fergie in Glamorous this gives me the color I am looking for and the glitter. But it's quite the process.

So I went panning on the interwebs in search of what's next for me in the gold polish market. I don't think I have ever done so much reading on just nail polish, but beauty is pain and a girl's got to do what a girl's got to do, am I right??
So this is what I found that could have some promise. Here is where you weigh in: What do you know about these polishes? Do you have them? Love 'em or hate 'em? Is this what I am looking for?

Thanks in advance lovelies for all of you help! Happy Friday Eve!

High Five For Friday

I don't think that I have even looked forward to a weekend as much as this one. Woohoo, cheers to the freakin' weekend, I'll drink to that!

1. Last Saturday called for big plans, apple picking, hayrides and searchin' for the perfect pumpkin. Well mother nature stepped in and decided I needed new plans and it rained poured all day. :(

2. So enter the back up plan, Hallowine. What could go wrong, with wine targeted at the Halloween season, I mean I in. Expect the fact that you heat the wine and it was terrible. Terrible as in it tasted like watered down apple juice with a half jar of nutmeg added. But hey, maybe someones into that, who knows.

3. My Mom always said have a plan b and this time was no exception.Since the Hallowine was a bust enter Salted Caramel Vodka with Apple Cider (and whipped cream and cinnamon, of course). OMG, DELICIOUS!

4. Enter a little confession I have to make, I have been hiding under a rock lately (for lack of a better catchy statement). A special new someone made me this neat little number in his welding class. Bold move to pull in a class full of dudes.

5. Without further adieu, me Luke. Well I guess he's not completely new in my life, he's been in my extended group of friends for about 5 years. I guess the timing just wasn't right then.

So he may be the reason I am excited for this weekend. We have big plans, ok well maybe not big but exciting to me plans. Tonight we're going to a haunted house (http://www.screaminacres.com/index.php). It's not really a house but a whole area. It even has a back story to read before you go. I am going to be scared out of my mind, but I am so excited I could pee.

And Saturday is Badger gameday + Homecoming and we're going to the game! For your viewing pleasure...

High Five For Friday

Wow, it feels good to be back. I just needed a mind purge kind of break, recharge the batteries and regroup! I have missed you all!

What a day to start back up that a fantastic Friday, whoop, whoop!

1. Last week Saturday will waiting for my beloved Badgers to start against the big rivals the Buckeyes. Jax and I decided to funny face it out while we waited. And well of course to show off the awesome spiked 'do!

2. On my way home from work I say this gorgeous little site. I was hoping that I could see it from my backyard and take a picture and sure enough. All though the picture doesn't really do this sun dog justice.

3. I was going through a box of things a found this little goodie. A picture of me and my cousin Kelli at our Grandparents house from 1992. Hanging out by the sprinkler #classy.

4. Wednesday called for some evening baking. Jax treat of choice, chocolate chip cookies of course. I let him lick the beaters for the first time and you have thought I was the world's most awesome mom!

5. Saying farewell to and awesome co-worker so she can pursue her dream of opening a flower shop. With that said, since it will be a sad goodbye that's happening in the fall it needed a sweet treat of apple crisp.

Happy Friday Lovelies! Have and awesome weekend!

This one takes the cake!

Happy Monday Tuesday Lovelies!

I feel this week was doomed at GO. I don't think I will be back on track until next Monday.

Anyway, I hope everyone had a wonderful Labor Day weekend! And did it start out with quite the interesting bang.

A little background first, I was out with girls to start off the three day weekend for drink specials and karaoke.
I kid you not I wasn't even half way through my first drink and this guy mad the most serious beeline over to our table. Of course like a lunch table full of seventh graders we all looked away, trying not to make eye contact because we just knew it wasn't going to turn out well.

So pick-up lines are funny when you're telling people ones you have heard or read, on the other hand they are mortifying when someone actually uses one on you. Well I didn't think guys used them anymore boy was I sadly mistaken because it happen to yours truly on Friday night. And this one my friend takes the cake for sure.

So after trying to hard not to make eye contact and dreading the words about to pour out of this guys mouth this is what ensued.

Guy: Have you ever had duck sausage?

Me: Ummm (thinking, really is that even a thing, NO!) No.

Guy: Well good then, why don't you duck down and taste my sausage?

Me: (insert really awkward laugh) Why don't you just leave!?

I really didn't have words, I don't think I have even been so appalled or disgusted. Whether is was a dare or being serious it was still totally unnecessary.

I just had to share how absolutely bad that pick-up line was. Am I being a total prude or off my rocker for thinking it was that ridiculous?

Have a great week!

High Five For Friday

Can I get an AMEN for Friday! Seriously though, I am so happy it's Friday. It's just been one of those weeks.

1. Jax felt the need to play a little dress up with Momma's shoes. Those tan lines kill me, way to funny.
2. A calm moment at the doctor's office in between blood and hemoglobin test. It was a rough day for him. But good news is everything came perfectly normal.
3. A little birthday cake with sprinkles for my birthday treat at work, delish!
4. No birthday is complete without and ice cold beer, cheers to me and my last year in my 20s.
5. It's that weekend, me and a group of friends and family are running the Dirty Girl again this year and I couldn't be more excited.

So here's to Friday and looking forward to a birthday weekend with friends and family!

Thirsty

Oh, how I have missed you my lovelies and I apologize for my absence.
The little man needed some medical attention and I have debated whether or not to share. Well I have decided to, I thought what better way than blogland for support, thoughts and suggestions.

So over the past few weeks Jax fluid intake has increased to 90-120 ounces a day, which is close to a gallon. With the help of the wonderful ladies at daycare we decided to monitor it, making sure it wasn't a fluke. Well nothing has really changed so I decided to call the doctor.

The only other thing that has changed with him is he has been falling asleep at meal time. So off to WedMD I went (never a good idea, you will always be diagnosed with a deadly disease with no cure.) Not really, but most of the time. These are both factors in Type 1 diabetes, so it had me concerned.

We got an appointment the next day. The thoughts from the doctor were the same and we did blood sugar test right away. No one likes it when there kid is sick, but we've been to the doctor for colds and ear infections and I know the normal route. But now we were in uncharted territory with a possibility of something that could affect the rest of his life. And of course waiting for the doctor to return with the results is like an eternity.

Ahh, relief his sugar levels were within the normal range. The doctor ordered an additional blood draw and a urine sample for additional testing just to be sure. Due to the high amounts of fluids it does concern him.

And the whole urine sample thing, well that went over like a lead balloon. Trying to take a sample from a potty training two year old. Not the easiest thing in the world. A doctor's office bathroom isn't very friendly. There isn't an Elmo potty that cheers when your done and you don't get a sticker. It's hard to explain that one. Needless to say we had to take a fun little to-go apparatus with us to collect the sample.

This is the part where I has for your help or suggestions, if this has happened to your little one or know other possibilities of what this could be.

Happy Humpday Lovelies!

High Five For Friday

Whoop, whoop it's Friday! And honestly what could be better than that? It's been a trying week but here are my highlights, these amazing moments made it all the more sweet.

1. Had my first ear of sweet corn, I know a little late but certainly worth the wait and it was delicious.
2. Took my bestie and the little man to National Night Out. Pretty amazing night of community and safety. Lots of freebies and a free dinner, umm yes please!
3. Jax had his first escalator ride this week at Target on the other side of town. You would have that I was a magician. The people behind us got a kick out of his reaction.
4. I fell like it was a week of firsts for Jax. I took him down to Lake Mendota at the Memorial Union Terrace. We watched the boats and the ducks and he loved every minute of it.
5. The Terrace is one of my fav places in the summertime, especially at sunset. It's just so peaceful.

Well that's it here from my end, TGIF and have a fab weekend lovelies!

When I am with you

To my son, my monkey, my flicker of light in the darkness:

Do you ever just have a bad day week? And you know that there is one thing that can change it and one thing alone that can make it better. Mine is my son!

Most days I think the best part of my day is the alone moment I get in the shower taking deep breaths of steam or the first sip of morning coffee. But there is that one moment that takes the cake, one moment in particular. The moment when I walk out to the daycare playground and I get that high pitched mommy from across the yard. The all out sprint (well as fast as his two year old legs can carry him) for my arms. I get that sunscreen smelling, sand coated, sidewalk chalk covered epic hug everyday.

Every sleepless night, temper tantrum and tears from owies, has made you the most amazing little boy that words don't even begin to express how much I love you.

You my darling little boy have taught me things I thought I already knew. That unconditional love that you show me on my worst days. The I didn't shower, brush my hair or teeth, sweatpants and oversize t-shirt kind of day and you still tell me in your mousy little voice, mommy pretty. You have not only showed me the little things in life but that they're important as well. For all of those tiny moments we have pasted together and call life I thank you.

I thank you for teaching me to have patience, savor every moment no matter how small and to love bigger that I every imagined. I thank you for choosing me to be your mom.

I love you not only for what you are but for what I am with you.

Love, one proud momma!

p.s. sorry for being so mushy today, it has just been a trying week.

Better Than Anything

It's one of my favorite days at work, pot luck day! Mainly for two reasons, one I don't have to pack a lunch and two I get to make bad for you tasty treats and it's acceptable.
This go around I decided to make Better Than Anything Cake. It delicious and I haven't had it in awhile.

Grab your ingredients lovelies because things are about to get tasty.
- 1 box of Devil's Food Cake Mix + ingredients on box (eggs, oil & water)
- 1 (14 ounce can) Sweetened Condensed Milk
- 1 (12 ounce jar) Caramel topping
- 8 ounces of Cool Whip
- 3/4 cup Milk Chocolate Heath Toffee Bits

Make Devil's Food Cake following the box directions. While still warm poke holes with fork/knife.

Continue until you have done that to the entire surface of the cake.

Then drizzle caramel over the top of the cake.

I use about 3/4 of the jar to cover the cake and the rest will be used as additional topping.

Then just as the caramel topping repeat the same with the sweetened condensed milk.

Let the caramel topping and sweetened condensed milk soak in and cake to cool to room temperature
Then coat the top with Cool Whip.

Use the remaining amount of caramel topping to drizzle on top.

Then sprinkle you toffee bits on top of that. I used more than 3/4 cup as I had left over toffee bits from another recipe and just finished off the bag.

And BOOM it's Yummo!(a little cooking humor is you will) Cue the crickets because that wasn't funny.

Happy Friday Eve, Lovelies!

HELP!

Alright, this isn't one of my strong points, asking for help that is. So this is a big step for me to blast it out there in blog-land.

I really had a heart to heart with myself about getting bloggy serious, all in my head and well on paper too.

I need and about me page like yesterday. Another one of weaknesses is talking(writing) about myself. I mean I don't want to make myself  sound like a low life nor do I want to make it seem like poop rainbows and glitter. But seriously how cool what that be?!

Here is where my crazy brain takes over and I take a sharp right in to chaos-land.
1. Funny or serious?
2. Pictures or word dominant?
             a. I hate taking pictures of myself!
3. What do I really share in my about me?
Trust me this list looks nice and neat compared to the notes I made. They were everywhere and then I would get to off track I would end up doodling and what not. I have such a scatter brain and get distracted easily.

So lovelies that is where you come in! I NEED YOUR HELP!
At this point I am open to any help, suggestions and ideas.

  I will be eternally grateful!

Happy Humpday!
